Our journey began with Kelly Crawford, who, while working full-time as a silversmith, set her sights on designing a unique equestrian range. Inspired by her childhood, Kelly grew up immersed in the love for horses, thanks to her mother, Barbara Crawford. This nurturing environment provided the perfect foundation for a horse-obsessed girl to explore her passions each and every day.
Barbara, a true equestrian enthusiast from a young age, faced challenges in pursuing her dreams—it was a time when her family did not share the same “horsey” inclination. Nevertheless, her determination was unwavering. As a child, she would ride anything she could find, and her passion led her to excel as a trainee jockey in racing stables. With grit and perseverance, she made a name for herself, riding winners on the track and earning recognition in local newspapers. Remarkably, her journey as a pioneering woman jockey in New Zealand set the stage for future generations, including luminaries like Linda Jones, who became a household name. Barbara looked on with pride, knowing her efforts helped pave the way for women in the sport, training alongside some of the industry’s top names.
